From classical material substitution to new concepts – Exhibitors from Baden-Württemberg at the Hannover Messe showcase around the Audi Q7 chassis their contributions to weight reduction

As a perfect display of the potential of lightweighting, the chassis of the Audi Q7 will be the main attraction at the Hannover Messe Industrial Supply 2017 at the joint stand "Lightweighting from Baden-Wuerttemberg". The Q7 loses an impressive 325 kilograms compared to its predecessor. From 24-28 April, eleven exhibitors from the southwest of Germany will present their innovations which help to create "lightweights" like the Audi SUV.

The new Audi Q7 has an empty weight of only 1,995 kilograms (in the 3.0 TDI version), making it the lightest in its class. The foundation is laid by the Audi Space Frame (ASF). By using a multi-material design using steel and aluminum, the Q7 chassis is 71 kilograms lighter than its predecessor.
